Kinder Joy

Kinder Joy

How could I not include this in my “Love This” section of the site.  The name of this tasty and fun little treat is Kinder Joy!  It has joy in the name.  This was meant to be!

I only recently discovered Kinder Joy.  I’d seen the little white and orange plastic eggs at the checkout counter forever, but never bit, pun intended.  I finally could resist no longer, and I am so glad I gave them a try.

When you grab the little tab and pull the two sided egg apart, you reveal two foil covered areas.  On top of one is a little flat plastic spatula/spoon to eat your treat with.  Under one is your toy, and under the other a smooth cream of white and milk chocolate.   To me it tastes like Nutella, which I also love.

There are two tiny crispy treats half submerged in the chocolaty goodness.  They remind me of Ferrero Rocher.  My two boys and I call that our special candy, because there are three in the small packages you find at the checkout counter, one for each of us.  We used to buy them and eat them in the car before we even left the parking lot.  Such fun days.  BTW… Did you know Rocher means rock.  Who knew!  They do kind-of look like little rocks.  Much tastier though.

The other side of the Kinder Joy egg has a small toy.  I figured they were nothing special, another reason I never bothered to try them before, but they are really pretty awesome.  Right now, you can find Minion themed eggs.  The Minions are really cute, and they are easy to put together.  One rocks back and forth (Minion dressed as a hula girl), one has a little open disk you can flick and shoot at the included targets, and another, Stuart, is riding a bicycle.  There are others as well.

These little tasty fun filled treats cost around $1.49 and are only 110 calories each.  They may seem a little pricey if all you are wanting is a sweet treat, but… If you want to feel like a kid again and get your chocolate fix without the calories of a full size candy bar, a Kinder Joy is just be what the doctor ordered.  Chocolate is good medicine.

  1. Those are super cute and yummy. Also in Greece they have them at Easter with a big chocolate egg and a hard plastic egg in the middle that holds the toy. 🙂
